We all like a good story. A solid history. I can provide some of both but only to a point. The rest will have to be learned, eventually. What I can tell you – in 1975 Bob Brown began Bob’s Janitorial Service.

What I’ve been told was Bob was a school teacher who needed to make ends meet and learned a new trade during the summers when school wasn’t in session. I’ve heard that he worked around construction sites, initially for free, cleaning up after the workers. He discovered a niché and garnered more customers, ones who would pay him. Eventually, this would lead to additional work and down the road, he would leave teaching in order to run his now full-time job.

Bob would develop a reputation for the quality of service, his work ethic, his dependability. When other services, such as floor care (stripping & waxing) or carpet cleaning, were introduced, I couldn’t tell you. Although Bob isn’t involved with this company, we have continued to push the reputation that he developed and certainly appreciate the customers who have trusted us with their homes & businesses for the past 45 years.

Many years at this building, continued growth with carpet cleaning, floor cleaning, and office cleaning made the necessary change to our current building in North Topeka on Hwy 24.

After graduating high school, my plans took me elsewhere but many years down the road, I would return back to Bob’s in a “behind the scenes” role. In 2012, I became more involved with the operations of the company and in 2017, took over the management of the whole business. In 2019, I asked Tanya, my wife, to bring her vision & skills to prepare & guide us into the future.

From 1975 to present, Bob’s Janitorial has continued to grow in various ways. Like any business, we’ve endured ups & downs. We have been blessed with an employee base hovering around 100 employees and have a large geographical footprint stretching from Salina into Kansas City and Wichita to the Nebraska border. Our clients range from residential to “mom & pop” local businesses to large national customers.

The underlying values have continued to exist – our belief in our employees, our reputation & dependability for service, and the knowledge we have in the various services we provide to our customer base.
